(Calcium Soap)
Lactofat F85 is a palm oil, it consists of calcium soap that is made by high temperature calcium and fatty acids.
The rumen is preserved and the product does not dissipate in the low acidity of the rumen (pH 6.2-6.8). Calcium salts of palm oil are typically stable at the high pH values found in a ‘healthy’ rumen (pH above 6.0), but break down (dissociate) in the acid conditions of the abomasum (pH 2.5). Both the fat and calcium components are then available for absorption by the animal.
Scientific studies show that Calcium soaps do not cause digestive problems. While other high palm oil acids require amylase enzyme for digestion, the calcium soap is spontaneously degraded in abomasum acidity. Despite bad smell, it is stated that this is the biggest advantage of calcium soaps.
Benefits for the animals:
Independent research studies had proven that calcium soap increased milk production, improved fertility, with potential mechanisms including improved energy status, increased progesterone production and improved viability of ovulated eggs.
